The thing that puts the biggest smile on my face is when I can inspire someone just by being my authentic self. I would love to help create a world where we can respect and value others even if we don’t agree with their choices as to how they want to live their lives. The thing that separates each of us is our differences but it can be the thing that brings us together along with our similarities. I think both are important in forging human connections. We should be valuing each others differences because those are the special things that make an individual one of a kind. For instance, someone may have a different sexual preference than you but at the same time can similarly want a relationship where they are valued, appreciated and loved. I think this happens by creating safe spaces where we can have hard conversations about things like identity, sexuality and humanity and still be respectful. I want to live in a society that encourages authentic living.
As a people, I believe we need to feel fully expressed and not feel like we must live up to some societal ideal. Of course, this is all contingent on the fact that we are not infringing on anyone else’s rights and freedoms. I remember being younger and not having anyone who looked like me to look up. I almost felt like we didn’t exist in the world even though I knew other women like me. I felt extremely undervalued. As a Role Model I desire to help young girls who look like me to know that they are more than enough and can do anything they so choose. It's important for me to let these young girls know that they are not only seen but heard as well. I also have realized that true authenticity can be inspire or encourage anyone not living in their truth no matter their sex, gender, race, etc.
