Growing up I felt different than other kids around me. It felt like all my friends had the perfect family with a mom, dad and siblings. My father was a drug addict that couldn't stick around to support me and my mother left back to her home in Indonesia when I was 2 months old, leaving me to be raised by my grandparents. In Utah, this type of family situation was not the norm and my peers never let me forget that, which left me discouraged and embarrassed. I allowed those insecurities and feelings of embarrassment to hold me back from going after my dreams.

College is when I started to find my voice and confidence that my story was nothing to be ashamed of, but that it made me who I am today. I turned to social media and modeling to start influencing others and started my own fashion business as well as became a licensed esthetician. I found confidence and strength in my new community through all the people that I have been able to touch. It makes me smile when helping others find strength in their differences.

I decided to become a model because of many of the reasons I mentioned above and because it is my passion. Modeling challenges me and brings me joy at the same time. I hope to change what society pictures of a model. A model is about being a figure others can look to for strength and confidence. I’ve learned that holding back will get you nowhere. I am different from everybody else because I share emotion in everything I do from how I was raised. I want to be a role model because I want to make a difference in other people’s lives by influencing them to go for their dreams, despite where they come from or how they grew up.
